Exploring the Keeper of the Plains: Wichita’s Iconic Landmark

The Keeper of the Plains is an iconic sculpture perched atop a 30-foot-tall pedestal at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas Rivers. Designed by Native American artist Blackbear Bosin, the sculpture represents the region’s rich cultural heritage and is a symbol of unity and harmony. Visitors can stroll along the riverfront and enjoy the stunning views, or attend the nightly Keepers of the Plains lighting ceremony, which illuminates the sculpture against a backdrop of fiery orange and red.
